Volkswagen T Roc Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Bridgestone Potenza S001 given 51% (225-45-19-)

Hey ALL, When I bought my VW T-ROC, it came with S001, the tire is fine when you are at a lower speed.

However, when you are on the highway, I mean the noise that tires make will drive you crazy.

Worst tyre ever, not safe in bad conditions and the tyres crack all the way around which make any puncture repair impossible. Can’t understand why this tyre cracking is not a bigger issue and drivers compensated. And why vw and Audi use them?

Writing about the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 given 82% (225-40-19-W)
Driving on mostly town for 2000 average miles
After a lot of (late night) research, I finally chose to replace the OEM Bridgestone Potenza S001 on my almost new car, after only 11,000 Kms ( 7,300 miles.) For me, as a regular daily driver, the Bridgestones were simply too hard, and performance orientated. And, with a profile ratio of 40, impossibly noisy. The Michelins are simply far more compatible with this medium powered car (only 190 bhp,) which is simply not a Sports car, yet VW seem to be fitting anything that they can get their hands on with a 93Y rating - except Michelins. Nevertheless the Michelins are very sporting, especially if you pump them up to beyond the normal VW stated pressures. It is hard to imagine how you could realistically exploit the limits of these Michelins in a 4 wheel-drive T-Roc on the road in the dry. As far as comfort is concerned, they are streets ahead of the Bridgestones, at the same pressure. Disappointingly the PS4’s are only a bit quieter, but we are talking about tyres with an aspect ratio of 40 on a small car. Always specify smaller wheels! It’s too early to predict how long they will last, especially with my moderate driving style. Price wise, here in Spain, they are no more expensive than their immediate competitors, not least of all due to local Michelin manufacturing plants. These are probably the best tyres for my car right now, even if it had a lot more power.

Driving on a combination of roads for 2500 spirited miles
Have get these tires with my new TROC, it was fitted on VW factory, well, it is comfortable, very quiet, strong, was waiting a little bit more from wet drip, but it is not sport car or hot hatch, so grip is enough in all the disciplines! Can recommend for sure!

Driving on mostly motorways for 10 average miles
These tyres came with a new 4WD car. We have done 10,000 miles and the fronts are down to 4mm and the rears to 4.5mm, so we are not going to get much more than another 3,000 miles out of them. They handle fine in both wet and dry. Most of our mileage is on motorways/A roads so can't give much information about potholes and unmade roads. But I am very unimpressed by the wear rate and will not buy these tyres again.
