Latest Falken Wildpeak AT Trail Reviews

Given 85% while driving a Ford Escape (235/50 R18) on a combination of roads for 25,000 easy going miles
The Falken AT Trail's offer a better ride and driving experience than the OEM Continentals. Only minimal loss of fuel economy and not discernible increase in road noise. They really come into their own on gravel roads, but also perform excellently on tarmac.

Given 80% while driving a Toyota RAV4 (235/60 R18) on mostly town for 600 easy going miles
I bought these tyres +10mm in width than for the standard RAV4 hybrid for a bargain (235/60R18 where stock is 225/60R18). I've always wanted AT tyres for the looks and for the occasional offroading but honestly more for looks and durability. I've read and seen so many positive views so it was a no brainer.

Performance in the wet was as good as any regular tyre. I hadn't pushed it much but the car didn't feel skittish or unsettled even when the tyre store pumped in 42psi when I left the store.

Road noise is to be expected over a passenger style tyre. Being a RAV4 hybrid, with no engine running, you'll hear a bit of the tyre roar more than a passenger tyre. Don't believe anyone that says it's as quiet but at the same time, it's not noisy at all and you've got to be listening for the roar to notice it. Put it this way, the family travelling in it hasn't noticed.

What I was surprised by was the roughly 6.x mm of legal tread measured in multple areas (ranged from 6.1mm to 6.5mm). I was expecting a bit more tread any even with the 680 A A UTQG, I'm not sure how long this will last but hopefully it proves me wrong.

Also I was surprised by the weight of the tyre. Sure it's more but I did notice the acceleration performance dull slightly but it's an AT tyre and to be expected and I went up in size. Fuel consumption has so far taken me to 5.8L/100km on the freeway. Perhaps +0.2-0.3L/100km.

Would I do it again, at the AUD$205 each, yes every time when the G015 and Open Country AT3 was A$260-280 each.

Given 83% while driving a Ford Kuga (235/50 R18) on mostly motorways for 20,000 average miles
A great SUV tyre for predominately on-road driving with the occasional off-road excursions. Handles well on gravel and rocky snow field access roads. Overall a quite and well composed ride across all types of terrain, so lives up to its AT name well.

Given 79% while driving a Ford Escape (235/50 R18) on for 20,000 miles
A great crossover tyre at an affordable price. Mostly highway driving with some gravel back roads and a little beach/ sand driving. Only minimal wear after 23,000 km. No discernible difference in road noise and only slight drop in economy. Car performing much better than stock Continentals it came with.
