Goodyear EfficientGrip Reviews - Page 8

Given 74% while driving a Nissan almera 1.5 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
Brought these to replace the Runway Enduro's that I was given by a friend, so far I'm pleased with them. Dry grip is good and wet grip is average to good. I've noticed the difference since buying these compared to the cheap budget Runway tyres. I'm using less fuel now and road noise is considerably quieter.

After reading a few reviews I was unsure whether I should buy the efficient grips has allot have given bad reviews on here. However, a friend recommended them has she has them on her car and has done 30K+ miles and still has around 10k+ more miles left on them.

After buying them though, I disagree with a lot of people here. The old saying "you get what you pay for" rings true. If you plan on driving to the limit in your car, then spend the extra buying tyre's that fit your driving style. I'm more of a laid back driver so these suit my style of driving.

At £78 per tyre fitted for the 205/60R15 95H XL's I'm happy with them and would recommend them to the average driver.

Given 46% while driving a Volvo 480 GT (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 4,000 average miles
First off, no way would I buy these tyres again. They are on the verge of being completely unsafe any time the temperature is in single figures or lower.

Grip is poor in cool or wet conditions, causing understear (I have some older tyres of a different make on the rear axle). If you follow another car around a roundabout, matching their speed you could slide quite easily.

If it snows, forget it! My Bridgestones are on the front axle, on a front wheel drive car. I recently got stuck in a carpark which was at an angle of much less than 5 degrees from the horizontal with about an inch of snow on the ground. It took one average sized man to push me out. Hopefully that demostrates how poor the grip is. Furthermore, my previous tyres (some worn Westlakes which had a towards-illegal depth of tread) in conjunction with the car was beating many part time 4x4's up snowy inclines, around corners etc.

The dry weather grip is ok-not noticably lacking or amazing, but then I don't exactly push to the limit. Fuel economy has not changed by more than a few mpg up or down in comparison to the previous tyres. After around 4000 miles the tyres have not worn excessively.

Given 33% while driving a Audi A4 (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
After 10,000kms i would like to say, there is much to be desired about this tyre.

this tyre is piss poor in the rain!! my previous Primacy LC had much more composure when driving on the highway. similar conditions and on the same car. if you care about your life and others, avoid at all cost

also, this tyre is noisier than most tyres. maybe i am used to Primacy LC quiet tyres but this tyre will hum, roar and wail on most roads.

i wont buy this tyre again and will never recommend this tyre. please avoid!

Given 83% while driving a Ford Mondeo (215/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
Second review having completed a further 4000miles on these tyres. I liked them before and still do. I have the XL version so maybe stiffer sidewalls but have never felt this "Jelly" some other people talk about. They seem ideal for my style of driving and the car, both of which are less than "spirited". Great touring tyre, just about to get two more for the front as I don't go below 2.5mm. I agree that legally they have some more life in them.

Given 78% while driving a Audi A6 2.7tdi Saloon 2008 (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
Let me begin by saying I have only owned the car for 1 month and it came with some worn out Bridgestone on the front and and worn Michelin's on the rear. I used this as part of the haggle. Handling was unusual to say the least. When you are looking to replace all tyres with a potential spend of £500+ you do some research. I had the chance to get 4 Goodyear EfficientGrip's for a very good price and of course you are suspicious. I read reviews, researched prices but had to go for them. I have had them fitted and what a difference, quiet, positive feedback, good handling with the potential of saving some money on fuel as well. As with all tyres they are better when warm but I gave them a good thrash on some local country roads the other night and it was like a different car. At this early stage I have little to compare them with on this car but so far I would recommend them. I made a point of noting how the other tyres handled before and after the change. I also looked to note the jelly like feel described by other reviewers and in all honesty I cannot feel it. After fitting I checked all tyre pressures and set them exactly to Audi's recommended psi and these tyres are spot on. I will come back and review these tyres next autumn when I have used them for 6 months to report mpg and wear but first impressions count and I am pleased. I think I will take the car out fora Sunday morning thrash just to check them again now:)

Given 91% while driving a Peugeot 308 (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
Have had these in place of michelin energy saver tyres, have now done around 2000 miles now and am very pleased with these tyres. Noticeable difference in drive, softer and more smoother than michelins, hard corning is noticeable in comparassion to the michelins, wet grip is as very good, as well as dry grip, no noticable wear yet or difference in fuel consumption. Subject to some reviews on these tyres i would deffinatly recommend these tyres to anyone.

Given 46% while driving a Ford Focus MK3 (205/55 R15) on mostly motorways for 11,000 average miles
these tyres came stock with my ford focus 2012. 180bhp but auto gearbox.

handling of my ford was good. good feedback. however, when the rain starts to pour, my ford it terrible!

so my friend begged me to change my tyres. i did. i changed my tyres to Michelin PS3.

these tyres really transformed my car. from a good handling car, it is now brilliant. feedback was fantastic and in the rain, it no longer a hovercraft!!

the EfficientGrip should be called, EfficientCrap. it is terrible.

Given 71% while driving a Ford Focus mk2 (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 20,000 average miles
Its a fairly ideal tyre for my fairly unexciting diesel estate. Decent grip (wet grip) - given the kind of tyre it is. They lasted 20,000 miles on the front (2L focus estate) of mixed driving. At that stage the rears were about half or two-thirds worn.

I liked them enough to buy another pair at the front.

Traffic light racers should be looking elsewhere TBH - there's a reason I didn't pick these out for our other car (mk4 golf gti).

Given 40% while driving a Audi A4 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 18,000 average miles
I bought these tyres about 8 months ago and about 30,000km ago.

dry grip is decent.
wet grip is dodgy, aquaplane a few times. and i wasnt even driving quickly.
feedback is non-existant. power steering? maybe
wear is ok, looking at the wear at 30,000km. i think it still has 30% left. which is ok.
comfort is poor or bad. its not the noisiest tyre around but it was touted as the quiet tyre. So it should really be quieter. my Continental premium contact 2 were much much quieter.

not getting it ever again.

Given 66% while driving a BMW 320i (225/60 R16) on a combination of roads for 19,500 spirited miles
advertised as the quiet tyre.

so the question would be. is it really quiet?

yes. and no.

on perfect surfaces, its mightily quiet. but you'd expect that from most tyres.

on poor surfaces, its decent. its not the quietest (i think one of previous Michelins were quieter). it does vibrate quite a lot of concrete roads.

so thats my take.
