Nexen N Fera SU1 Reviews - Page 8

Given 82% while driving a Volkswagen Golf (225/35 R20 W) on a combination of roads for 1,500 spirited miles
I shopped around, did my research based on performance and particularly wanted a balance of low noise and low rolling resistance plus was limited by my tyre size on my i8 wheels but of all the options including Goodyear, Continental and Dunlop, these scored high on paper only short of the Goodyear Efficientgrip and were less than half the price of the primes above and better than all mid-range tyres on price and paper.
I'm so glad I went with the Nexen N'Fera SU1, although they have 10% less sidewall than the Bridgestones before, they have a smoother ride on fine sharp surfaces (man holes, repaired tarmac, concrete joints etc) and are hugely quieter, almost silent below 30mph which is fantastic for my car in electric mode, its near silent.
The tyres are also lighter in weight helping steering reaction in spite of their size and in every aspect improving and helping the suspension to perform. I've even noticed as a result that my front top mount is worn which was indistinguishable with the harsh and loud Bridgestone's before.
My GTE has a capacity to lay down torque ~300ft.lbs in a go and even flooring it on wet roundabouts' hen the inside would break traction the car steered well and the drift/understeer was very controllable and correctable. I'm very impressed by the progression and control given the price range if the tyre.
I absolutely would recommend these and no doubt will be getting a new set in no time due to the mileage I do. Right now though they have only done a few miles so still fresh.

Given 86% while driving a Alfa Romeo 159 (225/50 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 7,000 average miles
Positive sides of this tire are precise handling, excellent braking characteristics both on straight road or curves, very good wet grip, I was never even near to aquaplaning. Very low wear, somewhere over 1mm in 10500 km on a car that is not gentle towards tires. Not so comfortable, it seems to me that they transfer a lot of vibrations to chassis. Moderate noise, it appears to me that they have substantial rolling resistance based on the fuel consumption. Pretty difficult for parking maneuvers as they give more resistance than my winter tires. They came pretty cheap so I would buy again.

Given 92% while driving a Audi A6 3.0 TFSI quattro (255/40 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
I was quite suspicious of the Nexens before buying, but the seller did a good job convincing me. I had bought several tires from him before so I trusted his opinion. Switched from Michelin Pilot Sport 2 to these.

A few thousand km after I'm really happy with them. Quieter than the PS2, better dry and wet grip. Perhaps the progressiveness is a bit worse than on the PS2, but it is hard to estimate well as it would need a track day, too scary to find the limit in normal traffic!

Given 34% while driving a Audi a5 3.0 tdi quattro sport (255/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Not the tyre for the a5 quattro at all, weak sidewalls, poor handling, unpredictable. You can feel the tyres sufferring under heavy braking or cornering The grip and wear levels are ok. I find tramlining and intermittent noise to be an issue and the tyres have worn unevenly giving strange handling quirks.

You get what you pay for and this tyre is no exception. I would not reccomend this tyre for the Audi A5 3.0 TDI at all and am changing them after 10k miles as I cannot risk the tyres degrading further.

Given 100% while driving a Renault Captur (225/55 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 average miles
It's the quietest tyre I've seen ever. No noise at all! Much more better than previous continental tires. Very good grip in dry and wet conditions. But it's not so shiny black. Very comfortable. Traction is very good.

Given 71% while driving a Skoda Fabia 3 1.4 tdi Estate (205/45 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 19,000 average miles
Bought the Roadstone version of these tyres. They have performed very well, however they do tend to leak a little. Need air every week. They have now been on the car for just over 2 years and have covered 19000 miles, but the carcase is now starting to split between the tread on the outside edges, still plenty of meat in the middle. Had them swapped round last year, 5mm on the front and 4mm now on the back. Because of the splitting I'm having to change them now, so I wouldn't buy them again. I had Continentals on before tread wore out before any signs of splitting.

Given 97% while driving a Mercedes Benz E Class AMG (265/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 2,500 spirited miles

Given 93% while driving a Mercedes Benz SLK (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 2,500 spirited miles

Given 91% while driving a Fiat Bravo (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 3,500 spirited miles

Given 37% while driving a Holden adventra (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 1,000 spirited miles
These tyres were new on a SUV before I started a 1500 kms trip.
3 days later I am at trip's end and am looking to replace them.
On a good road surface they are smooth.
On an older road surface they are harsh.
They do not communicate their responses to steering input very well.
I am prepared to write off the cost of 4 new tyres rather than try and wear them out.

Given 94% while driving a Audi A8L Quattro (235/55 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 3,000 average miles
I always replace tyres in sets of 4 due to Quattro and these are batter than any other tyres I have had some of which were nearly 3x the price. The wet grip is amazing. There is no way to unstick it even when trying to to test them. The SU1s are also very quiet and confortable. The new tread was only 7mm deep, other tyres I have had were 8mm. They are also 5mm deep on the deepest part of the outside blocks when new. They didn't take much weight to balance.

Given 58% while driving a Toyota Avensis (205/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 200 average miles
