185/55 15 Tyre Review Highlights

Fronway Fronwing AS rated 23% while driving a Renault Twingo GT
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
Truly awful tyres. The car felt unstable at any speeds above 20mph. Motorway speed made the tyres very unstable and the car literally wobbled. All tyre pressures set to 32psi. Gave no confidence on handling.

Wet weather grip was no existent. Tyres defeated by heavy rain resulted in aqua planing and subsequent spin out at 60mph. Genuinely scary tyres.

Swapped to toyo tyres and car transformed.

Toyo Proxes TR1 rated 70% while driving a Renault Thalia 1.416V
Driving on a combination of roads for 13000 spirited miles
This was my second summer with this tyre (20,000km/12.500 miles) and I am just trying to wear them out, so I can replace them. It was a dry summer, atypical for Hungary, so the inadequacies in the wet were not exposed too often. However, even a damp road causes embarrassing wheel-spin (only 72kW/98BHP) at traffic lights and squealing tyres on familiar sharp corners, taken enthusiastically. No such problem with my all-season Hankook 4S2 tyres, which are used only for winter.

Fronway Fronwing AS rated 27% while driving a Renault Twingo GT

The worst tyres ive ever had. They have made the car unstable in the dry and very dangerous in the wet to the point of spinning out in heavy rain.

Hankook Kinergy 4S2 rated 80% while driving a Fiat 500
Driving on mostly town for 3000 spirited miles
Substituting the Michelin Crossclimate2 previously mounted, the benefits are very clear: less noise, more grip, super balanced, less rolling resistance.
The question marks are now the behavior in snow and ice, and the duration.

Avon ZX7 rated 60% while driving a Toyota Yaris 1.5 ts

I was pleased with these tyres until one needed to be replaced due to a tear in the sidewall. The tyre fitter pointed out to me that all four had developed longitudinal cracks. This was on 3-year-old tyres that had covered less than 20k.

Dunlop SP Sport LM 705 rated 89% while driving a Honda Jazz
Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 average miles
This is only one month usage. 100-120 km/h mild corner handling awesome(dry way). I took corner safe, but other cars struggled. Steering wheel abruptly turning left to right and right to left beetwen vehicles was safe (120-140 km/h and dry way).

Comfort of tire is perfect.

Noise of tire is little.

I have not tried under wet way. But ı will write

I have bought a Dunlop LM705W 185/55/r15 86V tyre. I used tihs only one week. I should have bought a comfort tyre. There were only two alternatives. Kumho HS52 and Dunlop LM705W. Kumho might better chouise for grip. Kumho was lower price also. But I chose comfort. Dry grip is good but I felt slide wet road in corner 70-80 km/h little bit. This might be wrong review for only one week. My old tyre Dunlop FM800 handling was better than this. But comfort of this tyre is perfect. Road noise is minimum.

I used this tyre 75.000 km, nearly 8 year and all season, on all ground type (mostly in city). But cracked started on tyre. I should change a new one.

Running the XL version of the T/A's but that doesn't change the fact that the compound used in these tyres is garbage. road too hot? driving on mushy crap, cold? nice and stiff but hardly any grip, wet and cold? good luck, you'll need it.

the tyres are a good grip range in the wet and dry, certainly better then XM2's i was on but the unpredictability of the compound you never know what the hell it's going to do, some days i can drift on these by pushing it hard round a corner, other days it does nothing but roll to an uncomfortable level. The side walls are softer then my bicycle tyres, although the irony is you need to run low tyres pressures to even get good contact patch or handling so you lose out on the "comfort" not that it was even there to begin with because its so damn soft all it does is cause crap handling. 1000kg car? yea na, handles like a boat with these.. it holds the power but that's about all it does. for the price its a ripoff, $800 for these useless rubber bands. might work better on a heavier car around 1400kg but at that point you would want a superior tyre to prevent poor handling since you would need to modulate your tyre pressures away form square to staggered. I did replace my rear shocks and handling improved but that just says the tyres are so bad that it needs soft suspension to even function adequately, not what id expect from a tyre this overpriced.

final verdict for me, id rather go with the lower grip astronomically better handling MX2, i mean they suck in the wet and don't always hold the power even though its only 83kw, but hell at least when i get in the car and set the PSI correctly it handles how it should with no random changes with temperature or moisture. hell if you are wondering how good the XM2's are, they aren't but they were built well, well enough that the Pilot Sport 5's are based off them.

Infinity Ecosis rated 84% while driving a Alfa Romeo 145 T Spark
Driving on mostly town for 22000 average miles
After 6 years and 35.000 km on the road the conclusion is that this is, maybe, the best tyre I've ever bought for my car. For sure there are better tyres out there in the market, we all agree to that. But INFINITY turns out to be a very strong and valuable player.
The grip and brake on the wet are surprisingly little better than on dry terrain and even near the limit I was always confident that I have control without to worry about unpleasant surprises.
Now days, as expected, the driving is dangerous, the tyres are dry and not efficient anymore. But still have a lot of material on the tread, wear is something that never bothered me. For example, in comparison with Nexen N blue hd plus, wear was something a had to have in mind because pieces were falling off the tread. With Infinity never had to worry about wear. Unfortunately, for some reason, the brand is no more distributed in my country and that sucks. I'm about to try TOYO PROXES COMFORT as replacement.
