235/45 18 Tyre Review Highlights

Vredestein Quatrac Pro EV rated 90% while driving a Tesla Model 3 LR
Driving on mostly town for 100 spirited miles
I recently purchased these tyres for my Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range based on reviews of the original Quatrac tyre. The EV version should theoretically be better, but time will tell. My previous tyres were Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer tyres, which offered excellent grip and handling.

So far, my impressions of the Quatrac Pro EV are positive. They feel slightly softer and more comfortable, with noise levels that seem about the same. These tyres don’t have the foam band on the inside like some other models.

I typically drive aggressively with Slip-Start ON to make the car more tail-happy. I wore out the Michelins in just one year, so if these tyres also last a year, I’ll be satisfied.

Under hard driving and in rainy conditions, the Vredestein tyres slide slightly more, which I find adds to the fun. Braking performance is good both in wet and dry conditions.

I haven’t driven in snow or on ice yet, but I’ll share a follow-up once I have more experience in those conditions.

Hankook iON Evo AS rated 47% while driving a Tesla Model 3 standard plus
Driving on a combination of roads for 24000 average miles
For contents review is from Australia
I’ve done approximately 124,000km at time of writing this the car is almost 2yrs old in February 2025. Tyres have been thoroughly tested.

Having the pilot sport 4 tyres that came with the Tesla model 3 and getting 80k km out of those tyres I switched to the hankook ion evo after a lot of research. They are Horrible in the wet! the car doesn’t corner anywhere near aswell in the dry with 40k km on them they will need replacing by 50k km. The pilot sport 4 a week out from replacing in moderate rain wouldn’t break traction would grip even after several intentional attempts. Would not recommend hankooks regretted buying them never again.

Hankook iON Evo rated 84% while driving a Tesla 2024 Model 3 RWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
I recently swapped out the Michelin e Primacy tires that came standard with my vehicle and am thoroughly impressed with my decision. The e Primacy tires were undoubtedly quiet and comfortable, boasting incredibly low rolling resistance. However, their performance in wet conditions left much to be desired. I experienced fish tailing occasionally while navigating curves in the rain, which didn't inspire much confidence in wet weather.

Enter the Hankook Ion Evo. After a 1000km break-in period, these tires have proven to be a noticeable improvement. They offer enhanced comfort and maintain the same serene quietness that I appreciated about the e Primacy. This improvement does come with a slightly higher trade-off in rolling resistance. Typically, on my usual routes, I achieved a minimum energy consumption of 9x Wh/km with the e Primacy. However, with the Ion Evo, this rises modestly to 10x Wh/km.

Despite this, I wholeheartedly recommend the Hankook Ion Evo for daily driving, especially for those prioritizing comfort and performance in wet conditions.

Bridgestone Weather Control A005 rated 50% while driving a Kia Motors Optima
Driving on mostly country roads for 10000 easy going miles
These were fitted to my 2nd hand 2020 Kia Optima Gt line S on purchase and all 4 looked brand new. They were fine at first, but recently they have begun disintegrating with chunks coming off both front and rear tyres after 10,000 miles. They are now terribly noisy and are being changed to Goodyear Vectors, this week. I'm not a fast driver so the very poor wear is a surprise. Had the car checked over by the main dealer and no alignment or mechanical issues to explain the issue. I would never recommend these tyres to anyone, awful experience !

Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 average miles
Great overall tyre. After 1 season and 15.000km they are down to 6mm, so i guess they will last 2 more season at least .

Nexen N Fera SU1 rated 59% while driving a Volkswagen Transporter
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
Had these on a VW T5 Sportline Transporter 174bhp. Not driven hard.
The tyres were quite noisy, and wear has not been exceptional, however, they have cracked all around the outer edges, inner and outer, on all 4 tyres.
Recommended to me by a trusted tyre dealer that I have used for years, and no reason to disbelieve them.
I would not recommend or buy these again

Pirelli Cinturato All Season SF2 rated 80% while driving a Tesla Model 3 standard plus
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
Everyday drive tyres, coming from a Michelin Pilot Sport 4 I used before, the first impression is the Pirelli lack precision and reactivity; however, always at a first glance, they are far more grippier. After more than one year, I can confirm the great grip in all the driving situations I encountered, through all the seasons and all type of roads, from southern Italy to Denmark. The Pirelli Cinturato SF2 is also comfortable in noise, and rolling smoothly, both characteristic essential for EVs. The only feature that is lacking here is the BSW.
